Since his early 20’s, Mr. Battista has been a leader in the educational and healthcare industries, blending media and technology to offer transformative solutions to each market. Bob was the co-founder of Doctor Evidence in 2004, building upon a history of entrepreneurship. As co-founder of Doctor Evidence, Bob has identified and conceived the company’s technology and product offerings, bringing the first ever integrated digital data platform to evidence analysis of published clinical studies, epidemiology data and drug package insert data. He has been privileged to have built an exemplary team to architect and execute the mission and vision of the company in the evidence-based–medicine marketplace. Bob pioneered the launch of a national Evidence-Based Guideline Consortium Network, where providers, payers and guidelines developers can create patient care guidelines derived from the published clinical evidence, with a direct feedback loop to the medical manufacturer regarding the applicable science.
Previous to co-founding Doctor Evidence, Mr. Battista served as partner in charge of technology development and partnerships as Executive Vice President of TheraCom, a leading biotech pharmacy specializing in drug distribution and reimbursement services, where he launched and integrated the company’s technology functions. TheraCom was founded out of service to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and through advocacy, education and alignment programs, helped increase the delivery of covered therapies to CF patients, taking the uninsured and under insured rate from over 50% to below 2% for the therapies.
In the area of education, Bob functioned as the President and Chief Operating Officer of United Learning (acquired by the Discovery network) in Chicago, the largest specialty health- and educational-film–distribution company in the United States. Over the years, Bob has consummated over ten mergers and acquisitions as an operator and a variety other M&A activity as an independent broker. After leading the acquisition of $82-million educational industry leader Educational Resources/Sunburst in 2002 (backed by Thayer Capital, Washington D.C.), he undertook the role of Vice Chairman and CEO of the company. Bob was also a leading executive in the effort that built the online distance-learning company that was later acquired as the platform for today’s Laureate Education. In his remaining time in educational business, Bob pioneered the co-branding of a private-sector–developed master degree curriculum across more than twenty-five higher-educational colleges and universities, resulting eventually in the enrollment of over 20,000 teachers per year in program offerings. Bob was also EVP of Programing and Business Development at the acclaimed, advertiser-supported educational daily news show the Channel One Network, seen by 7.2 millions teens daily. Bob earned his Master’s of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management and undergrad from National‑Louis University, Chicago.
